Λίγες μόλις μέρες μετά την ανανέωση των κουπέ και κάμπριο εκδόσεων της Σειράς 3, η BMW αποκάλυψε μία νέα έκδοση του μεσαίου της μοντέλου. Πρόκειται για την 335is, που τοποθετείται ανάμεσα στην προσφάτως ανανεωμένη 335i και την -κορυφαία στην γκάμα της Σειράς 3- Μ3 V8.
Το μοτέρ που θα φορά είναι το "παλιό" διτούρμπινο των 3,0 λίτρων και κωδικό Ν44, και όχι τον καινούργιο (που κινεί πλέον τις ανανεωμένες εκδόσεις) με ένα τούρμπο και κωδικό Ν55. Θα αποδίδει 320 άλογα και ροπή 45,9 kgm (50,9 σε overboost). Η κίνηση θα μεταδίδεται στους πίσω τροχούς μέσω 6τάχυτου χειροκίνητου κιβωτίου ή, προαιρετικά, 7τάχυτου διπλού συμπλέκτη.
